A Special Fall Reunion
The Audie L. Murphy, 33º Memorial Class

The Fall Reunion for 2006 is a very special reunion.
It is named in honor of 1 st Lt. Audie Leon Murphy, U.S. Army. Beginning as an Army private, Audie Murphy served three
years active duty as a combat soldier and was the most decorated soldier of World War II having received 33 awards
and decorations including the Medal of Honor, the highest military award.
Brother Murphy was raised to the degree of Master Mason on June 27th, 1955 at North Hollywood Lodge No. 54
(California). He later became a plural member of Heritage Lodge No. 746 (also California). He received his 32º on
November 14th, 1957 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Dallas, Texas and became a Shriner on November 15, 1957 at Hella Shrine (also Dallas, Texas). Brother Murphy received the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) on October 11, 1965. He was posthumously elected to receive the 33º in 2000 and his 33º cap was presented to his widow in November 2000 at the Valley of Long Beach (California).
Brother Murphy died in a plane crash in 1971 at age 46. His grave is the second most visited at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Valley of Tampa’s 267th (2006 Fall Reunion) will be held November 4th & 11th, the first two Saturdays in November. During the reunion, the 1955 film adaptation of Brother Murphy’s 1949 autobiography, To Hell and Back, will be shown.
At this reunion, the Valley of Tampa wishes to honor all veterans for their service to the United States. We encourage all Scottish Rite masons to attend this special reunion and welcome our new 32º members as they become Masters of the Royal Secret. We also encourage all Scottish Rite Masons to invite a Master Mason who is not yet a Scottish Rite Mason, especially if they are a veteran, to petition to become a member in this special class.
The Valley of Tampa Scottish Rite Freemasonry is proud to honor Illustrious Brother Audie L. Murphy, 33º at our 267th Scottish Rite Reunion.
